The message

When wisdom raises her voice, will we listen?

In a world filled with countless voices competing for our attention, one voice continues to call above the confusion—the voice of wisdom.

Trey Knowles’ Wisdom Calls is a reflective song inspired by Proverbs 1:20–33, where wisdom is personified as a woman crying out in the streets, marketplaces, and city gates. Her message is neither hidden nor reserved for a chosen few. She calls openly to everyone willing to listen, warning people to turn from foolishness before the consequences of their decisions overtake them.

The song asks listeners to examine the direction of their lives and consider which voices they follow. Every day presents a choice between wisdom and foolishness, understanding and ignorance, righteousness and rebellion. Wisdom offers guidance, correction, protection, and peace, yet pride, temptation, distraction, and temporary pleasure can cause people to reject her.

Proverbs 1 carries urgency. Wisdom reaches out patiently, but many despise knowledge and continue according to their own desires. When trouble arrives, they search for the guidance they once ignored. Wisdom Calls captures this sobering truth: today’s decisions shape whether we stand securely tomorrow or fall beneath their weight.

True wisdom is more than intelligence, education, or worldly success. It begins with reverence for God and appears in humility, discipline, obedience, discernment, and righteous living. A wise person does not merely know what is right; a wise person practices it, even when doing so is difficult or unpopular.

Wisdom may speak through Scripture, experience, prayer, correction, or the counsel of people who care about our spiritual well-being. The song encourages us not simply to recognize wisdom’s voice, but to respond while there is still time. Listening requires humility, and obedience requires the courage to change.

At its heart, Wisdom Calls is both an invitation and a warning. It calls every listener to pursue understanding, embrace spiritual truth, receive correction, seek God’s direction, and build a life on a foundation that remains firm when adversity comes.

“The question is not whether wisdom is speaking. The question is whether we are willing to listen.”
