Enrichment Programs

Experiential Learning through ANA’s garden:

With all the technological developments around us, it is difficult for us all to stay connected to nature. However, it is our responsibility as adults, parents, and teachers, to provide our children with opportunities to embrace nature. A great place to start this is in the classroom, or better yet, to take the students outdoors to learn in a school garden. Children get an opportunity to explore and discover the living world around them and learn from mother nature. We believe that growing and tending a vegetable garden teaches compassion, patience, responsibility, communication, caring, observation skills, and self-discipline in children. It provides an open door to teach life skills by engaging youngsters in active learning, exploration and fun. ANA’s children learn firsthand the plant cycle, from seed planting to harvest time, and the taste, touch, and smell of flowers, fruit and vegetables.

Combination Dance Class:

Research shows that dance helps develop creative thinking skills, builds discipline and self-confidence. Dance teaches children about music, movement, rhythm and beat. Students also have a better understanding of spatial relationships and learn to think with both sides of their brain. All these skills enhance a child’s academic performance, as well as their physical well-being. Dance is a great way to build invaluable social skills, as the dancers learn to take turns, to share attention, and to cooperate with others as they work within a group. Just like team sports, dance for children can teach invaluable and important life lessons.

Mistie’s Dance and Tumbling offers on-site Combination Dance Classes at ANA’s Learning Center for children 2 years and up. These weekly sessions aid a child in exploring movement, gaining self-confidence, and to learn how to follow directions in an environment where children are having fun while learning.
